ADEN - WW2 RARE CHRISTMAS AIR MAIL LETTERS: Service personnel in Aden Command were allowed one free Air Mail Letter Card to the UK for Christmas. 1941 the only envelope recorded (? - possibly due to a shortage of cards) with signed red trapezoid "[Wings]/RAF/CENSOR/751" cachet, 1942 specially printed "Xmas Greetings" letter card with square blue RAF censor marking, 1943 illustrated "Xmas Greetings" letter card depicting planes and palm trees (no censor mark), and 1944 "CHRISTMAS AIR LETTER" with red diamond "[Wings]/RAF/CENSOR/112". All very attractive and v. fine condition. (4) £300

ENV. - RARE VILLAGE USAGE OF THE LONGER 2d ENVELOPE TO U.S. WITH FLATTS "R.O./15" DUPLEX; 13 Aug. 1895 commercial usage of the long 2d Regd. envelope to Iowa uprated with 4 QV ½d's (some faults where placed over the string that originally went across the cover - pieces of string still in place beneath all the stamps) tied by 6 fair to fine strikes of the rare Flatts "BERMUDA/B/R.O./15" Duplex. Only a handful of village usages of these Bermuda registered envelopes are known, and this is believed to be the only recorded usage from Flatts. Exhibition item. One is registered but the majority are at the 10c rate. Seven dated 1936 in error on reverse.
