Click to view full image... ROOSEVELT FRANKLIN D.: (1882-1945) American President 1933-45. A large vintage signed 17 x 9.5 photograph depicting Roosevelt seated in a half length pose at the head of a table accompanied by seven other men seated to either side. The verso of the photograph bears the stamped date 2nd April 1942. Signed ('Franklin D Roosevelt') in fountain pen ink with his name alone to a light area of the image. The photograph has a heavy vertical fold at the centre (reinforced with sellotape to the verso) and extensive light surface and corner creasing. Only FR £100 - 150
On the day previous to the present photograph being taken, 1st April 1942, sixteen modified bomber aircraft, their five men crews and army maintenance personnel were loaded onto the USS Hornet in preparation for the Doolittle Raid on the Japanese capital of Tokyo. The following day, 2nd April 1942, when the present photograph was captured, the Hornet left the port of Alameda and a few days later rendezvoused with Task Force 16 commanded by Vice Admiral William F. Halsey. The Tokyo Raid, planned and led by James Doolittle, took place on 18th April 1942.

T.L.S., Dwight D Eisenhower, one page, 4to, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, 6th December 1966, to Chaplain Walter H. White, on Eisenhower's personal printed stationery. Eisenhower states that he is pleased to know that Dr. Daniel A. Poling will be honoured at a Testimonial Banquet 'in recognition of his years of dedicated service to people throughout the world' and continues to confirm that he will be happy to have his name listed as Honorary Co-Chairman of the banquet, although will not be able to attend. Eisenhower concludes 'Please convey to Dr. Poling my warm congratulations and to all those in attendance my best wishes for an enjoyable and profitable evening'. Click to view full image... HIMMLER HEINRICH: (1900-1945) German Nazi official of World War II, Reichsfuhrer of the SS. German Nazi official of World War II, Reichsfuhrer of the SS. D.S., H. Himmler, one page, 4to, n.p., 23rd October 1943. The typed document, in German, is a memo addressed to SS Gruppenfuhrer von Herff and states, in full, 'As SS officers who are capable, should the need arise, of becoming higher SS and police officers, the names of SS Group Leaders Thomas and Jurs and SS Brigade Leaders Harm, Thier and, with strong reservations, Jaegy should be taken down. In regard to SS Group Leader Thomas, I ask that a detailed assessment again be sought from SS Group Leader Gebhardt. Is he once again stable enough to be of use in such a position? If he is stable and reasonable, he is of course fully fit for the position of a higher SS and police officer. There only needs to be a reasonably sure certainty that he won't deviate again'. Boldly signed in blue fountain pen ink by Himmler at the conclusion. With a number of blue and red indelible pencil annotations to the margins, some possibly in the hand of von Herff. Two file holes to the left edge and some extremely minor, light foxing, not affecting the text or signature, otherwise VG! £400 - 500

An unused 4to sheet of Goebbel's printed stationery, featuring the black printed heading Der Reichsminister fur Volksaufklarung und Propaganda beneath a blind embossed Nazi eagle and swastika, also with the printed address at Wilhelmplatz, Berlin. Together with an unused small 4to sheet of stationery featuring the black printed heading Kanzlei des Fuhrers der NSDAP beneath a blind embossed Nazi eagle and swastika in the upper left corner and the address in Berlin, and two telephone numbers, in the upper right corner. Some light creasing, about VG £100 - 150
Provenance: Accompanied by copies of statements of origin signed by Richard O. Rex stating that he personally removed the stationery from the Reich Chancellery in Berlin in July 1945 after having been flown in to help establish a medical dispensary for use during The Potsdam Conference. Also signed by a Notary Public as a witness. Together with copies of further supporting detailed documentation relating to Rex and his acquisitions.

JUNGE TRAUDL (1920-2002) Hitler's personal Private Secretary 1942-45, present with Hitler in the Fuhrerbunker during his last days. An unusual 4to Souvenir copy of Adolf Hitler's Political Testament, ten pages, 4to, Fuhrerbunker, Berlin, 29th April 1945. The Testament, dictated to and typed by Traudl Junge, consists of two parts, in the first referring to Hitler's motivations since volunteering in World War I, also stating 'It is untrue that I or anyone else in Germany wanted the war in 1939. It was desired and instigated exclusively by those international statesmen who were either of Jewish descent or worked for Jewish interests', giving his reasons for his intention to commit suicide, praising and thanking the German people for their support and achievements, and in the second part Hitler lays out his intentions for the government of Germany and the Nazi Party after his death, further naming the individuals whom he wished to be "leaders of the nation", including Karl Donitz as President of the Reich. The original document was signed by Hitler at the conclusion and witnessed by Joseph Goebbels, Wilhelm Burgdorf, Martin Bormann and Hans Krebs. The souvenir copy signed to the final page in blue ink by Junge, 'Typed by Traudl Junge, Hitler's Secretary'. EX £400 - 600

It is our wish to be burnt immediately on the spot where I have carried out the greatest part of my daily work in the course of a twelve years' service to my people'. The original document was signed by Hitler at the conclusion and witnessed by Joseph Goebbels, Martin Bormann and Nicholaus von Below.
