  1902 (July 5-22) Postcard and reply card (outward half) with fine attached drawings or paintings of President Steyn and Louis Botha by the French P.O.W Maurice Le Gall, both cards self addressed to Le Gall in Deadwood camp, the July 5 card with scarce violet triangular “PASSED / BY CENSOR / ST. HELENA / HEAD OFFICE” (only used April - August 1902), the July 22 card not censored. A fine and rare pair of cards from this talented artist. (2). £450-550

  1748 (Jan 17) Entire letter from John Wiatt in St. Christopher, to his cousin “Mrs Ann Wiatt at the Angel, Dale Street, Liverpool” endorsed “p. the Nancy Capn Cowley, Q.D.C”. Posted upon arrival at Liverpool as an inland letter, backstamped “PORTS / MOUTH” and endorsed “Forwd p. Stretch Cowley”, charge 7d. A rare and unusual early letter from St. Kitts. £200-250

  1762-65 Entire letters from St. Christopher to James Gordon, merchant in Madeira, sent to the Jamaica Coffee House in London, 1765 letter privately carried endorsed “p. Capt. Smith” (of the “Galloway”), 1762 letter charged 5d with London Bishop Marks, the letter advises that ten pipes of wine were shipped in the “King of Prussia” that was captured and must be claimed on the insurance. Also 1776 letter from Madeira to Alexander Gordon at the Jamaica Coffee House endorsed “Cadiz 27 Dec. 76 forwd by Sir yr mt obt Hl Servts Butlers & Mathews” with red Andalusia handstamp and London Bishop Mark, the letter mentioning the burning of Basseterre.   1768-94 Entire letters from St. Kitts to G.B all carried by private ships, endorsed “p. the Rowley Capt Kiddall Q.D.C” with “DOVER / SHIP LRE” (S1, 1768), “Capt R. Ashington, New Success” with “DEAL / SHIP-LRE” (S4, 1792) or “p. Sarah” with “GREENOCK / SHIP LETTER” (S12, 1829), all fine and unusual; most prestamp mail from St. Kitts went by packet. Sargeant”, carried on the “Barzillia” with superb “WEYMOUTH / SHIP LRE” (S1), containing two sight notes for £100 each payable after 60 days. The letter mentions the short turn around time of the convoy, resulting in half the sugars made in the parishes of Dieppe Bay and Sandy Point being left behind. Photo on Page 228. £400-500
