Soruth. 1869 (Aug 5) Part combination cover from Joonaghur to Bombay, a fragment of India 1a at right tied by “304” numeral and Soruth 1869 2a black on yellow at left with manuscript cancel and tied by red Bombay Dy (Aug 10) arrival datestamp, red Joonaghur c.d.s alongside with triangular Joonaghur and Jaitpoor railway sorting datestamps. The Soruth stamp with three large margins, a large piece sadly torn out at left, nevertheless one of the great rarities of Indian States philately, one of just two recorded examples. Discovered in 1891 and since owned by Ferrary, Col. Napier, Dawson and Garratt-Adams, fully documented by Col. Napier (1927 work, p.11), Dawson (Philately in India 1952, Collectors Club Philatelist 1955) and Wood (p. 27/8).
