Click to view full image... German Imperial Navy light cruiser S.M.S. Dresden cap tally, golden weave, 130cm long, extremely fine. Dresden operated as a commerce raider in the South Atlantic and Pacific Oceans before joining the East Asia Squadron. She fought in the Battle of Coronel and was the only German to survive the Battle of the Falkland Islands on 8th December 1914. She was sunk on 14th March 1915 when trapped by British cruisers in Chilean Waters. (See photo) (Y) £70

Goeben was in the Mediterranean at the start of WWI and in company with SMS Breslau, avoided the Allied fleet pursuing and escaped to Constantinople where she was transferred to Turkey and re-named Yavuz but continued to be manned by her German crew and took part in actions in the Baltic Sea and in 1918 against the British sinking 2 monitors.
