Also in the box is a made-up body only in silver with racing number 2, with defective clockwork motor. It is believed the model defective motor was replaced shortly after purchase with the made-up model. The kit contains a number of tools, leaflets and other components (unchecked for completeness) but the contents are generally Near Mint to Mint including an illustrated card box with illustrated lid and outer sleeve. Meccano Model of a Dreadnaught or similar Battleship, built from early unpainted Meccano parts including gearing and twin funnels, masts, guns and some rigging, the model is 33"/85cm long. Interestingly the model is accompanied with a large wooden framed early photograph depicting the same model and its young builder, dating from the early part of the 20th century, there is some puncture damage to the picture but it comes in a Good substantial wooden frame. An early toy tinplate Man on a Tricycle Novelty - comprising man with tinplate body, articulated legs attached to the pedals on the front wheel of a tricycle causing a pedal action when propelled forward. The cycle has heavy lead spoked wheels. Also included is a circular tinplate 3-rail track, with clockwork motor, designed to rotate with the cycle inside. However the clockwork motor requires attention and the securing bracket to the centre of the wheel requires repair but otherwise a Fair to Good early example, dating from the turn of 20th century, 11"/29cm in height overall. £100-£150

Bassett-Lowke Live Steam Wooden Model of a D36 V Class Destroyer of the British Royal Navy - believed to have been based on HMS Vivacious which was launched in 1916 - the wooden hull is battleship grey with a maroon lower hull, fitted with a live steam driven marine engine and boiler, driving a single rear propeller with rudder (untested). The deck is equipped with various metal fittings including guns, 2 x masts and metal bridge and superstructure. Access to the marine engine is via two removable deck mounted panels - the odd fitting may be loose and some of the rigging may need re-attaching, some wear to the paintwork on the starboard (right) side of the hull but otherwise a Good example which still retains it "A Bassett-Lowke Model made in Northampton transfer to the stern, 40"/100cm long and is mounted on a substantial metal base. This lot, until recently, was exhibited by the vendor at the Bassett-Lowke Museum, Northampton for a number of years. £600-£800
