With large range of copied rolls, MIC, LGs, RA attestation paper etc. QSA roll confirms single clasp and remarks state invalided No 3 Depot. 5576 William Thompson's MM was announced in the London Gazette dated 27th October 1916 and Croix de Guerre in the London Gazette dated1st May 1917. He was also issued a 1914-15 Star trio, landing in France 8/3/15 and Class Z Reserve 7/2/19. RA attestation book lists 1660434 attesting aged 34 1/2 17/7/20 so too young for Siege of Kimberley when he would have been 13 or 14, TEM was issued 1931 which confirms other service, almost certainly WWI. So could be to 2 or 3 people, no service papers found for any of the service numbers. (R) £400

With large silver medallion engraved "Presented to Pte D.J. Pettitt by the members of the Ambulance Sec of The Cresswell Co Boys Brigade on his leaving the district 10th February 1903". Also with small St John Ambulance Association small silver service cross named 129219 Dennis J. WWI Memorial Plaque to Richard Upton, nearly very fine. This is a unique name on CWGC and was to 2356 Sgt R. Upton 10th Sqn RFC who died of pneumonia on 4th May 1915 and is buried in Streatham Cemetery. With copied extract from De Ruvigny's Roll of Honour including photo, CWGC and 2 pages of service record, service record shows he enlisted 26/11/14, promoted Sgt 1/5/15. De Ruvigny states "eventually became a captain and master mariner in the Straits S.S. Service, L.F., being regarded as the commodore of the fleet of 17 boats. While home on leave in July 1914, he obtained his first class flying ticket and on the outbreak of war in Aug 1914, joined the Legion of Frontiersmen; went to France where he did good work as a free lance with the Red Cross Society. He then joined the RFC and died in Tidworth Military Hospital 3 May 1915 of pneumonia contracted while on active service." (R) £70
