An exceptional Edwardian/George V antique sterling silver parcel gilt 'Japonisme' style four-piece tea and coffee service on tray, London 1905/1912/1919 by Wakely & Wheeler/ Finnigans Ltd Comprising a teapot, coffee pot, milk jug, twin handled sugar bowl and twin handle tray. Each of cylindrical form with everted square rim, and panelled handled, the teapot and coffee pot with ivory insulators. The tray of rectangular form with canted corners. The bodies planished and gilt and finely decorated throughout with repoussé relief cranes amongst flowering iris grass. The milk jug London 1905 by Wakely & Wheeler, the sugar bowl 1912 by by Wakely & Wheeler and the rest of the service London 1919 marked for Finnigans Ltd. additionally marked 'Finnigans Ltd Manchester' underneath. (5) Coffee pot height - 18.5 cm / 7.25 inches Tray length-60 cm / 23.6 inches Weight-4399 grams / 141.43 ozt λ £3000-4000 Finnigans Ltd was a retailer of many goods from the late 19th century, it is likely that this set was entirely produced by Wakely & Wheeler, who were known suppliers to a large number of retailers.
