WW2 Japanese POW's Distinguished Service Order (GRI KGVI issue, suspension bar is un-dated), 1914 Star trio with MID oakleaf, 1939-1945, Pacific Stars, Defence Medal, BWM with MID oakleaf, QEII Civil Defence Long Service Medal and Italian Bronze Medal For Military Valour (Al Valore) which has been silvered to Lt Col Charles Philip Heath R.A. (2 Lt C.P. Heath R.A. on Star, Major C.P. Heath on pair, rest un-named as issued, good very fine to good extremely fine, swing mounted as worn. The WWI trio appear to be a late issue, although his MIC has not been annotated to this effect. It is highly likely that his original pre-WW2 medals were lost during the fall of Singapore in 1942. His DSO was announced in the London Gazette dated 4th June 1917, Al Valore was announced in the London Gazette dated 26th May 1917, MID for France was announced in the London Gazette dated 23rd July 1917 and MID for Malaya 1942 was announced in the London Gazette dated 1st August 1946. With large quantity of copied research, he was born in 1893, commissioned in RGA from RMA 18/7/13, landed France with 1st Siege Battery Ammo Column 19/9/14, served with 2nd Siege Battery during Battle of Neuve Chapelle March 1915, served with 59th Siege Battery at Aubers Ridge during Battle of Festubert and at Battle of Loos September 1915 where he was slightly wounded. From Dec 1915 to Aug 1916 he was Adjutant of Bexhill Siege Artillery Training Camp, he was promoted Acting Major 2/1/17 while commanding 135th Siege Battery where he took part in the Battle of Arras April 1917, during the German March 1918 offensive, 135th Bty were holding a position at the southern end of Vimy Ridge. He was restored to the establishment CD & AA Branch 15/12/38, promoted Lt Col 15/6/39 and in the early part of the war was in command of the range finding experimental installation on the Isle of Wight. He was posted to Singapore as CO of 9th Coastal Regt and was taken Prisoner of War at the fall of Singapore 15/2/42 and for the rest of the war was held at Changi and River Valley Road POW Camps in Singapore. After release from the POW camp in 1945, he was assisted by Lord & Lady Mountbatten in trying to trace his wife and daughter. He was placed on retired pay 15/12/46 and died aged 95 13/6/89. The Imperial War Museum recorded 12 reels of oral history about his military experiences in 2 World Wars. Sold with WWI ribbon bars, matching swing mounted miniatures (less CD Long Service), Lt Col epaulettes, spare ribbons etc. Also with The Most Distinguished Order of St Michael and St George Companion's (CMG) neck badge in Garrard box of issue attributed to his father, Colonel Edward Heath. The CMG was announced in the London Gazette dated 8th March 1918 for valuable services in connection with the war as a Colonel on Retired Pay in A.O.D. George Bishop's MM was announced in the London Gazette dated 16th July 1918. With 6 copied pages of service record, MIC and LG, his papers list him as a Loco Driver (extra pay 2/-), he enlisted 29/1/15, landed France 15/4/15 with 113th Coy, joined 296th Coy on formation 29/1/17, accidently wounded when a nose cap exploded 18/6/17, wounded in action 17/4/18 (this could be the date for MM action), evacuated to England 20/4/18, discharged 9/2/19, from Dunfermline.   DCM winner's WWI Military Medal to 107212 Cpl F. Webster 40/D.S. Coy R.E. good very fine. Fred Webster's MM was announced in the London Gazette dated 29th August 1918. With copied service papers which include scarce typed citation for MM, "On April 9th 1918, this NCO was in charge of a Forward Brigade Report Centre at Sailly Sur La Lys. Although the building in which the office was established was heavily shelled and was eventually destroyed by the shelling, he successfully maintained his communication system, re-established his office in the open, and kept constant touch with the fighting troops. His coolness in danger was most praiseworthy and it was solely due to his efforts and pluck that communication was maintained during several severe enemy attacks." His DCM was announced in the London Gazette dated 3rd June 1919, "For great gallantry and devotion to duty throughout the period from 17th-18th September to 31st December 1918. During the enemy retreat he on every occasion kept open communications in the forward area under heavy shell fire, often under most difficult conditions. When the advance became rapid his energy and initiative were largely responsible for uninterrupted communications being maintained between brigade headquarters and the front line."
With 9 copied pages of service record, MIC and LGs, he was born in Sheffield, enlisted 7/12/15 aged 23, landed France with 40 Sigs 3/6/16, discharged 19/4/19. (R)

With 7 copied pages of service record, MICs and LGs, he enlisted in the Territorials 18/12/13 with number 1108, landed France 10/10/14, transferred to Regular Army in the field 31/1/15, discharged 27/1/19.   WWI brothers medal with 1. 1914 Star trio and Memorial Plaque to 20689 Pte A.A. Curtis R.A.M.C. (20689 Pte A.A.H. Curtiss R.A.M.C. on star, Arthur Albert Henry Curtis on plaque) very fine and better. He was killed in action with 9th Field Ambulance during the Third Battle of Ypres on 19th September 1917 and with no known grave is commemrated on the Tyne Cot Memorial. With copied MIC (2), CWGC, Soldiers Died, National Roll of Great War, landed in France 20/8/14 with 9th Fd Amb, rendered valuable service with his unit during the retreat from Mons. He also took a prominent part in the Battles of the Marne, the Aisne, Ypres and the Somme. Sold with a photo in uniform and plaque card case. 2. BWM and Victory Medal to 55806 2. A.M. C. Curtis R.A.F. good very fine. With copied RAF service paper, Charles Curtis enlisted in RFC 25/1/17, served in France from 4/7/17 to 2/9/19, discharged 18/7/20. With large qty of related material with photo in uniform, group photo, large embroided RAF badge, RAF wallet, AF Z11 discharged from 24 Sqn, Form Z518 employed as Driver Petrol, AF Z21, Returned Great Coat form, post war he was employed as a bus driver with United Counties Omnibus Company and comes with 2 lapel badges, 2 un-named Safe Driving Medals with bars 1940-1952, 3 Safe Driving named certificates, a United Counties 25 Years Service silver and enamel pin badge named to C.W. Cecil Ynyr Jones was born 28/7/98, landed France with 3/11/14, commissioned in 13th Londons 23/10/15, promoted Lieut 1/7/17, seconded to Indian Army 21/12/17, granted Act Capt while commanding a Coy 30th Punjabis 18/8/18 to 11/9/18, admitted to Indian Army 8/2/19, promoted Capt 24/7/20, retired 6/12/22, died 10/11/54. With original death certificate, copied MIC and LGs, MIC confirms number and issued bar & roses, GSM issued for service with 122nd Rajput Infantry, MIC also states "Sec India Office fwds nom roll of indiv entitled to the emblem 10/1/21" which suggests he was also Mentioned in Despatches, but this unconfirmed.
