Indigo blue, soft felted wool with plaited silver couched work and tassels. A wonderful embroidered hood. Fastened at the neck with hook and metal threaded loop. 52" Length. Good condition.   TWO C19TH JAPANESE KIMONOS An antique black crepe silk kimono, known as a 'kuro tomesode', often worn at a wedding ceremony by a female married relative. Short sleeves, with a hand printed design below the waist. Lined in cream silk. Approx 56cms/22" across the front x 160cms/60" Long. Fair condition. And a further short black crepe silk damask kimono with cream silk damask depicting flowers. Approx 52cms/21" Across x 80cms/32" Long. Good condition (2) £80-100

  TWO VINTAGE JAPANESE KIMONOS A long dark blue crepe silk kimono with a band of printed scenery below the waist, short sleeves printed on the back right sleeve and front of the left sleeve. Lined in silk. Approx 62cms/24"across the front x Approx 165cms/60" length. A further purple woven full length kimono with red silk lining. Approx 65cms/26" Across the front x 160cms/60" Length. A C20TH HAND EMBROIDERED CHINESE WALL HANGING Brought back from Hong Kong in the 1950's, this carefully hand embroidered picture depicting a magnificient pheonix amongst a scene of silver cranes, a peacock and a flurry of beautiful little birds amongst the bows of a ginko tree. Worked in many different satin stitches, gold and silver couched thread on a black satin ground. 112" x 118" Good condition. (1) £250-300

  A C19TH LADIES CHINESE ROBE Cream damask silk with scrolled appliqued collar hand embroidered, depicting Chinese ladies surrounded with flowers and gold couched work. The robe is fastened with filigreed metal buttons and toggles. Borders of embroidered pastoral scenes and couched work surround the hem and two side vents. The robe is lined in the most luxurious peach coloured silk velvet. 70cms/27" Across the chest x 72cms/28" Length. (1) Tiny rust mark on front. £100-150

TWO C19TH QING DYNASTY CHINESE ROBES A red silk child's robe hand embroidered with flowers and butterflies embroidered in peking knot surrounded with gold couched work. Buttoned with toggles and lined in pink cotton. 42cms/16.5" across the front x 58cms/23" length. A further silver silk damask robe with roses, bordered with black silk. High mandarin collar, missing toggle buttons. An inner panel has a hidden pocket. Lined in grey cotton and padded for winter. 37cms/14.5" x 74cms/29" length. (2) Both in fair condition £100-120

A 1940'S WOOL KASHMIRI CHAIN STITCHED FORMAL HOUSE-COAT Straight out of the Raj, this wonderful full skirted wool house coat would have been worn in the winter by a diplomat's wife living up in the Himalayas. The coat has been tailored beautifully with leaves of soft Autumn colours, hand embroidered in wool chain stitch on a cream wool ground. The coat is lined in heavy cotton, giving plenty of warmth. The original embroidered buttons fasten at the neck with pretty loops. The long sleeves are fitted and lined. Bust 34". Tiny hole at waist, missing two buttons. (1) £700-800

EARLY METAL & SILK WORKED EMBROIDERED ECCLESIASTICAL STOLE Whether or not this is 'Opus Anglicum', the stitching, threads and detail are hallmarks of the medieval embroideries. Fine silver wrapped threads couched to an original deteriorating silk, possibly velvet ground, laid on a linen back. Very fine metal purl work, yellow floss outlining floral motifs in split stitch. Areas of bobbin lace. Perhaps the stole has been added to over the centuries. 92" long x 4" wide spanning out to 9" wide. (1) £500-600

Click to view full image... A RARE VINTAGE ROYAL BALLET BODICE This beautifully tailored bodice was bought from a sale at the Royal Ballet, London convent Garden. The balloon sleeves are made from cream satin and pale green crepe de chine. This costume is so light it floats and with the weight of the fine gold embroidery embellished with pearls and sequins on the wings, one can imagine it was worn by a magical dancer. Bust 26". The curtain has gold stencilled motifs and where the curtain was pulled to the side regularly, the fabric has frayed. Now covered with a piece of blue cloth. (1) £100-150
