ROLLING STONES THE: Individual ink signatures by Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts (who adds the band’s name in his hand) to the recto of a feint ruled 8vo sheet removed from a notebook, also signed by Brian Jones and one other individual to the verso. Together with two printed oblong 12mo tickets for a performance by The Hollies at the Liberal Hall, Yeovil, 8th April n.y., each bearing various signatures. Some heavy overall age wear, a few stains and some tears and small areas of paper loss to the edges, slightly affecting the signatures, only FR £200 - 300
The present set of signatures were obtained in person by the vendor when, as a teenage fan, she met the band (although Bill Wyman was not present) on a secluded beach on England’s south coast having attended The Rolling Stones’ concert at the Gaumont Theatre in Bournemouth the previous day, 26th October 1963.
The fifth signature on the page, beneath that of Brian Jones, is of Keith Perry, the vendor’s then boyfriend. Excited at having met her idols, in particular Brian Jones (see lot 195), the vendor recalls proudly showing the signatures to her boyfriend who added his signature in a fit of jealousy, declaring ‘There, you’ve got my signature now too!’

JONES BRIAN: (1942-1969) English Musician, the founder and original leader of The Rolling Stones. A.L.S., Brian Jones xxx, two pages, 8vo, n.p., n.d. (October/
November 1963), to Penny. Jones thanks his correspondent for her letter and continues to apologise to her, ‘I am very sorry I didn’t write and thank you before, but as you said, we have been so very busy - just haven’t been able to sit down for five minutes and answer some of my mail. I can [s]ee by what there is piled up here beside me, I shall have to get cracking and pull my socks up eh!’ Jones concludes by adding that he is sorry they didn’t make it to Yeovil, adding ‘but look out for us, we might drop in’. The present letter was written by Jones to his teenage admirer following a chance encounter between the two (and other members of The Rolling Stones; see lot 194) on a secluded beach on England’s south coast in October 1963. The recipient of the letter told Jones that she had written to him over one hundred times and never received a reply, and made a plea to him to reply if she wrote again.

McCARTNEY PAUL (1942- ) & STARR RINGO (1940- ) British Musicians, both members of The Beatles. An excellent pair of vintage blue ink signatures by both Paul McCartney (‘love Paul McCartney’) and Ringo Starr (‘Love Ringo Starr’) individually on an oblong 8vo card bearing the printed word Autographs at the head, neatly clipped from the verso of a Qantas airlines First Class menu. Dated in the hand of a Qantas crew member 19th February 1968 alongside the signatures. Some extremely light, very minor age wear, VG £400 - 500
McCartney and Starr flew from London to New Delhi on 19th February 1968, the day on which the present signatures were obtained.

HARRISON GEORGE: (1943-2001) English Guitarist, a member of The Beatles. A printed slim 4to First Class menu issued by Qantas Airlines for flight QF108 Los Angeles to Sydney, signed by Harrison in blue ink with his name alone to a clear area at the base of an inside page. A neat pencil annotation to the opposite page in the hand of a collector indicates that the signature was obtained in person on the flight on Sunday, 24th October 1993. About EX £200 - 300
