MAN IN THE IRON MASK THE: An original printed 4to copy of the Final Continuity Screenplay for the 1939 film The Man in the Iron Mask, written by George Bruce and produced by Edward Small Productions Inc., Hollywood, California, individually signed by over fifty cast and crew members including James Whale (Director), George Bruce (Screenwriter), Louis Hayward (King Louis XIV/Philippe of Gascony), Warren William (d’Artagnan), Joseph Schildkraut (Fouquet), Montagu Love (Spanish Ambassador), Peter Cushing (Second Officer), John DuCasse Schulze (Art Director), Edgar Anderson (Assistant Director), Cullen Tate (Second Unit Director), Robert Planck (Cinematographer), Val Paul (Production Manager) and many others. Most have added complimentary inscriptions alongside their signatures, some of which indicate that the original collector worked in the catering department on the set of the film (Cushing, for example, writing ‘Edna dear - may you be rewarded for the happiness you give to others - your coffee is swell too! We’ll meet again, Peter Cushing). Some of the more significant signatures appear to the title page, others appearing on various pages throughout the screenplay. Bound in the original paper wrappers (the front wrapper detached, along with the title page, and with some small areas of paper loss and a few small tears to the edges). Some age wear, G £1000 - 1200
A rare signed souvenir of the Hollywood film, adapted from the novel The Vicomte de Bragelonne by Alexandre Dumas pere, which is itself based on the French legend of the Man in the Iron Mask. The film is notable for being Peter Cushing’s screen debut.

Vintage signed 8 x 10 photograph of Devereux standing in a leg revealing full length pose wearing a white fur and holding a Christmas gift in her hands. A number of streamers hang from the ceiling and several other Christmas gifts and balloons appear at her feet. The promotional photograph bears a printed caption to the verso ahead of the release of the British comedy film Girls at Sea (1958). ADVENTURES OF SHERLOCK HOLMES THE: A good pair of adjoining pages removed from an autograph album, the left page boldly signed in pencil by Basil Rathbone (Sherlock Holmes) and the right page signed in bold pencil by Nigel Bruce (Dr. Watson), George Zucco (Professor Moriarty) and (in ink) Stella Zucco (1900-1999, Wife of George Zucco). Both Rathbone and Bruce have added the date 1939 in their hands, the same year in which they starred in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes alongside Zucco. An extremely rare group of signatures. Some very light, uniform age toning, evidently caused by previous framing, otherwise VG £200 - 300

Click to view full image... ZUCCO GEORGE: (1886-1960) English Character Actor, famous for his roles as a suave villain and as Professor Moriarty in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. An extremely rare vintage signed 14 x 11 photograph of Zucco standing in a three quarter length pose in costume as Professor Moriarty on the set of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1939). The actors Basil Rathbone, in costume as Sherlock Holmes, and Nigel Bruce, in costume as Dr. Watson, stand in three quarter length poses alongside Zucco and the three actors are also accompanied by an unidentified gentleman and lady. Signed by Zucco with his name alone in fountain pen ink to a clear area of the image. Autographs of Zucco are extremely rare in any form and the present example depicting the actor in perhaps his most famous role, alongside Holmes and Watson, is highly desirable. The signature is very slightly faded, although perfectly legible. Some very minor, light age wear (a couple of light scratches and small surface creases) to the image, otherwise VG £400 - 500
The identity of the couple who have joined Holmes, Watson and Moriarty in the present photograph remains a mystery, perhaps one that could only now be solved by the great detective himself. The answer may well be elementary, but this cataloguer has been left without any clues…..
