Scarce late 19th century South-East African 'Baboon Master' walking stick or staff with carved baboon figure top and long plain shaft swelling slightly at the tip, 120cm overall. The 'Baboon Master' worked in the region of Durban in the 1880s and 1890s with his signature baboon carving incorporated into the handles of his sticks. The sticks were popular purchases for the British Troops serving in the South African and Boer Wars.
