Rare Allgemeine-SS 'SD' Obersturmbannfuhrer tunic jacket, fine black wool/doeskin tunic with pleated top pockets and slash bottom pockets. Single silver cord right epaulette, silver piped collar with matching collar patches with unit patch blank and rank patch with 4 pips and rank stripe. Left sleeve with red wool SS armband, the SD silver wire diamond badge and blank SS-SD cuff title, the right sleeve with Alte-Kampfer (Old Fighter) chevron. Inner pocket has RZM SS Dienstrock maker's cloth label, pebble buttons all marked RZM SS M5172/15, overall in extremely fine condition. Vendor states purchased from Ulric of England. Glass framed collection of 13 pieces of wreckage from a Messerschmitt 110 twin engine fighter from 9/ZG26 based at Barley which was shot down and crashed at Crabtree Farm, Great Bentley Essex at 1530 on 26th August 1940. The crew Werner Opper and Paul Nick were killed and buried in Colchester Cemetery and reinterred at Cannock Chase in the late 1960s. The ME110 was part of the escort to the Dornier 17s which were raiding Debden. With typed statement from original eye witness and collector, "I visited the crash site several times during the week following the crash having seen the aircraft shot down from the Hilly Fields in Colchester. My own recollection was that the plane dived out of the clouds straight into the ground. Although the aircraft was damaged by fighter action, eye witnesses maintain the guns at Bromley Pylons fired on the aircraft which appeared to receive a direct hit after which it pulled up into a climb, half looped and dived into the ground. The RAF pilots involved were P/O F.B. Sutton of 56 Sqn, but also belived to be involved were P/O P.J. Simpson and Sgt T.Y. Wallace of 111 Sqn. Glass will not be posted. (B) £55
