  A GROUP OF WWII MEDALS AND KOREA PAIR TO A MAJOR RASC. 1939/45-Africa and Burma Stars, Defence & War medals, Korea Service Medal named to Mjr R W Patterson RASC, UN Korea medal. Mounted for wear with a matching miniature group and badge and buttons (R W Kent blazer buttons). A silver and enamel cased Masonic award of the Rupert Patterson Lodge No 3646. On the reverse is inscribed Presented to Mrs J Rupert Patterson to commemorate the Mastership of her husband as first WM January 1914. Hallmarks for London 1913. A full dress cap badge in enamel and metal for the Royal Army Service Corps. Rupert William Patterson was born on the 13th August 1914, commissioned into the Army on the 21st February 1940. Major on the 13th August 1950, retiring 1/12/1957. Educated at Sherborne School from 1928-32 as a Law Student, son of J R Patterson of Penang. From 1933-37 he was serving in the Royal West Kent Regt. 1937- He served in the 4/7th Royal Dragoon Guards. In 1934 a 2/Lt R W Patterson was commissioned into the 20th London Regt. War Services 1939-45 shows that he sevred in the ranks for 1 year and 141 days, prior to Emergency Commission 2/Lt 21/2/1940 Serving in the British Expeditionary Force in 1940 he was awarded promotion in the field. War Subst Lt 21/8/1941. Act Captain 25/12/1941 then T/Capt 25/3/1942. Finally Major in 1950. From 1940-42 He served in the Middle East including Abyssinia and Somalia In 1943 He was serving in Ceylon, thence 1944-45 in Burma as an acting Major. Finally in the Korean War with the Royal Army Service Corps, up to his retirement in 1957. He lived in Kenya after this time then latterly in Austria. £350-450

  REGALIA OF THE ORDER OF FROTH BLOWERS ORDER. The silver plated and enamel neck badge and chain, of the Ancient Order of Froth Blowers, (Motto Lubrication in Moderation. Comprising of a Grand Typhoon badge with a partaker sat on a Beer Barrel, the motto and A O F B. an ornate chain with Beer Glass, A O F B, etc decorations. Awarded to Captain Kettlewell Special New Zealand Representative. A tankard with similar adornments as per the chain, inscribed 'Presented by Sir Alfred Fripp KCVO.KB to Grand Typhoon Captain Kettlewell for services rendered. The Order was started to raise monies foe East End Waifs etc, after the Surgeon Alfred Fripp operating successfully on a Bert Temple. Although the Order only lasted a few years, the monies raised by the light hearted venture, reached over £5,000,000 in today money. It was vilified by the Temperance Movement, convinced it was 'Cavorting in Sin and The Liquor Trade'. £300-400

Companion of St Michael & St George, Queens South Africa Medal with bar Cape Colony, Kings South Africa bars 1901 & SA 1902. The latter two medals named to Col G H Moore-Lane CMG APD. The three mounted for wear and contained in a fitted Spinks case, with a buckle mount on the CMG. The ghost dating is very clear on the QSA reverse, both the latter two named in slanting engraved capitals. A matching miniature group, also mounted for wear Colonel George Howard Moore-Lane was born on the 19th October 1844. He was a Paymaster APD from 26/5/1879. Hon Major APD from 26/5/1884 T/Staff Paymaster “ from 8/5/1889 Staff Paymaster “ from 1/4/1895 Chief Paymaster “ from 26/1/1901. Previous Service with 15 & 77 Regt Districts. The son of the late Thomas Moore-Lane of Madras India. Married 1875 Mary T de Courcy, daughter of Admiral M de Courcy RN. Left Southampton on the Persia on Saturday 9th April 1900 for service in South Africa. Mentioned in Despatches LG 10/9/1901 awarded the CMG. See Illustration £500-700
