1936 MASSEY HARRIS GP 4wd 6cylinder petrol / paraffin TRACTOR The four cylinder Hercules OCC side valve engine was replaced by a Hercules OOC, L-head four cylinder operating at 1200rpm in an attempt to add some much needed grunt. Only a few were fitted with the more powerful 6cylinder power unit. A high price and the lack of power from 4cylinder ensured that the GP was not a successful seller. This example has been the subject of restoration and a re-paint.

1969 ROADLESS Ploughmaster 75 4 cylinder 4wd diesel TRACTOR Reg. No. ODV 765G Serial No. B862435/7651 An older restoration fitted with front weight block & front weights 2552 1991 FORD 7810 Series III 4wd 6cylinder TRACTOR Reg. No. 91WW11001 (Irish) Serial No. BC74846 Fitted with Quicke 650 hydraulic front loader, Super Q cab and PUH. This is an excellent example of one of Ford's most popular tractors and would be just at home as a useable farm machine or within a collection. 2553 1983 County 1884 6cylinder TRACTOR Reg. No. A479 MKL Serial No. 48852 The last and largest new model equal wheeled tractor to be built by County Commercial Cars Ltd was introduced in 1980 at the Smithfield Show. The 1884 was based on the Ford TW30 and it produced a mighty 188hp from its turbocharged and intercooled engine, the new price was set at a hefty £29,850. This 1884 was owned and operated by Lafarge Aggregates pulling the elevating-scrapers which had a 12-ton capacity and County tractors were found to be the only prime-movers that could handle them on the gradients of the sand face. Lafarge had used County tractors at its Kent quarry sites since the 1950s, beginning with a pair of skid-steer Four-Drive models, which were replaced by an early Super-Six. Further County models followed, including 1124, 1184 and 1454 tractors, until Lafarge bought its first 1884 in 1983. Supplied through the Maidstone Ford agents, Haynes Bros, the 1884 was registered A479 MKL. Its date code (83-D-21) suggests that it was built just after the original company, County Commercial Cars Ltd, had gone into liquidation and was taken over by Shropshire dealer, David Gittins. The build code of its Ford skid unit reveals it to be based on a 1982 TW-30. The 1884 was worked continuously with a Johnson scraper. By the end of the decade, it had clocked-up very many hours and the company decided to replace it with a second 1884, which was supplied in early 1990 by the then owners of County Tractors Ltd, Benson Group of Knighton. The original tractor was relegated to trailer duties and was eventually laid up in 2001. It and the other 1884 were sold into preservation in 2006. Appearing in very good ex-farm condition this 1884, following its purchase from Lafarge, underwent an extensive mechanical refurbishment using genuine Ford parts. Often referred to as the 'Holy Grail' of classic tractors this 1884 is the first genuine example to be offered at auction and is an exceptionally rare opportunity to acquire a true leviathan of agricultural history. Estimates suggest that there are probably only just over 20 County 1884s in preservation. With acknowledgment to Stuart Gibbard

1980 County 1474 TW 4wd 6cylinder TRACTOR Reg. No. 80WWW320 Serial No. 41253904766 The 1474 was developed by the original firm of County Commercial Cars Ltd, based at Fleet in Hampshire. They followed the design of the company's previous four-wheel drive tractors with the twin propeller-shaft drive system, which provided positive four-wheel braking and allowed the differential lock to operate on all four wheels. The 'short nose' 1474 was the first to make its appearance. Launched at the 1978 Smithfield Show, the County 1474 was based on the largest tractor in the current Ford range of the time: the 9700 model with a 153hp turbocharged version of the 401S engine. Within a year, the 1474 was up-rated to TW-20 specification with a larger flywheel, an oil-cooler and a new twin-entry turbocharger. The 1474 was fitted with the 'F-type' flat-deck version of Ford's straddle Q-cab, the high specification resulted in hefty price tags: in 1982, the 1474 cost £20,597. The outlay put off most buyers, and far more customers opted for the cheaper 1184TW model. Few 1474 tractors were sold on the home market, and most of those that were went onto large arable holdings. David Tapp, the former engineering director of County Commercial Cars Ltd, estimated that the original company built less than 40 1474 models. This excellent and extremely rare example of one of County's most iconic models is fitted with a set of front weights and stands on a good set of tyres. With acknowledgment to Stuart Gibbard
