With full original gum but with typical gum wrinkling. These stamps are rare with only seven examples of the 2/- and nine examples of the 4/- recorded. They are probably the most sort after of the private telegraph stamps, the pair is particularly desirable. Hiscocks 1-2. Photo £1,000-1,500

In September 1860 the South Eastern Railway, then the third largest telegraph network in Britain, began to issue "Electric Telegraph Franks". These were printed by Charles Whiting, Beaufort House, Strand, London. Some of the values are very scarce and it is thought that only 30 examples of the 2/9d. value were produced

Although the status of this stamp is unknown, it is considered to be a legitimate telegraph stamp. It is thought that only four examples are recorded, one being in the Royal Philatelic Collection.
