Gabriele Carelli (1820-1900) Italian "Sorrento" Signed, inscribed and dated 1874, watercolour and gouache, 42cm by 75.5cm Gabriele Carelli was the son of the artist Raffaelle Carelli. He completed his training along with his brother in Rome between 1837 and 1840, whereupon he returned to Naples. Carelli secured the patronage of various illustrious individuals including the Duke of Devonshire whilst he still remained in Naples. After 1859, with a return to London, and following various successful exhibitions in the city, including at the Graves and Dudley Galleries, he went on to gain the patronage of Queen Victoria. £600 - 800
