Tunnicliffe also produced a great many drawings of pigeons, following a commission from renowned pigeon fancier Thomas Forsaw (reputedly there were as many as 400 pigeons in his collection at its height), and with a view to producing a comprehensive illustrated publication on the subject. Due to the publishers withdrawing from the production, the literature was never produced, but some of the drawings now form part of the collection of the Tunnicliffe Museum, Anglesey. For comparatives see Christie's, 3 June 2004, lot 189 and Christie's, 16 March 1993, lots 18-36

José Maria David (b.1944) French Walking Elephant Signed, stamped "Landowski Fondeur 2013", cast in silver no. 8/8, 21cm by 36.5cm Provenance: Purchased directly from the artist Born in the Loire Atlantique region of France, José-Maria David grew up near the Gâvre forest; one of the hunting areas frequented by the Dukes of Brittany in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. This environment had a huge influence on him and caused him to be passionate about art, animals and nature. He had a career as an antique dealer until 1986, when he decided to dedicate himself to his love for sculpting animals. David has a particular skill for portraying the strength and dynamism of moving animals and is especially well regarded for his portrayals of big cats (an example of a lion on the chase "Lion Chassant" sold for ¤255,000 at Marc-Arthur Kohn on 27th May 27, 2014, achieving a world record for the artist). His bronzes have been compared to those of the celebrated sculptor Rembrandt Bugatti. £2500 - 3500
