CSM Evans was awarded the DCM serving with 1st Bn in London Gazette dated 5th August 1915 "For conspicuous gallantry and ability on the 7th November 1914 at Zillebeke, in continuing to lead his men in charge on the enemy's position when all the Officers and SNCOs had been killed or wounded. The charge was successful, and, with the aid of another regiment, three maxim guns were captured." He enlisted 26/3/06 and was discharged 16.8.17 due to sickness.
