1914 Distinguished Conduct Medal winner's Silver War Badge No 250740 to 9071 WO2 Robert Evans R.W.F. replacement pin, otherwise extremely fine. CSM Evans was awarded the DCM serving with 1st Bn in London Gazette dated 5th August 1915 "For conspicuous gallantry and ability on the 7th November 1914 at Zillebeke, in continuing to lead his men in charge on the enemy's position when all the Officers and SNCOs had been killed or wounded. The charge was successful, and, with the aid of another regiment, three maxim guns were captured." He enlisted 26/3/06 and was discharged 16.8.17 due to sickness. Sold with silver cigarette case hallmarked James Dixon & Sons Sheffield 1905, front of case engraved with RWF cap badge/ Sgt Maj R. Evans R.W.F. Quetta 1912 and monogram AGE, also with 2 RWF cap badges, Old Contemptibles of Wales Assoc lapel badge No 180, silver RWF tie pin, Mons Star lapel badge, 2 RWF black flashes for back of collar, 13 further RWF/British Legion badges, collar dogs, shoulder titles etc. With copied MIC, SWB roll etc, issued a 1914 Star trio with clasp. George Thompson Fisher was killed in action on 28th August 1915 and is buried in Bard Cottage Cemetery, near Ypres. CWGC lists unit as 1st/2nd (West Riding) Fd Coy and Soldiers Died lists as 2/7th Hants Fd Coy! As he enlisted in Sheffield, the West Riding Coy is the more likely. Alfred Stanley Kirk was killed in action with 1st Bn on 15th July 1916 during the Battle of Bazentin Ridge and with no known grave is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, the battalion suffered 321 casualties on the day. With copied CWGC, Soldiers Died and MIC. With relative's WW2 1939-1945, Italy Stars, Defence Medal, BWM and QEII Imperial Service Medal to Frederick Henry Kirk very fine to nearly mint. Enlisted CLY 4/8/14, granted a commission 23/10/14, to France 27/1/15, promoted Capt 11/9/16, served on Trench Mortars, MID in London Gazette 18/5/17, wounded 27/8/17, attached Portugese Div Arty 19/11/17, posted 21st Div Arty 26/11/17, appointed DTM 28/11/17, awarded Portuguese Cruz de Guerre 3rd Class 9/11/18 (this missing), relinquished commission 26/3/19. WWI Victory Medal to 5468 Pte E. Tovey C. Gds very fine. Edgar Tovey enlisted 9/3/04, to France 13/8/14, discharged 2/1/17. With damaged Coldstream Guards certificate of service, copied photo in uniform. With typed history that states he was wounded in WWI, received news in 1940 that his son had been KIA with Welsh Guards prompting him to re-enlist aged 55 lying about his age and he saw service in North Africa and Italy. His son later being shown to be a POW, not KIA. With copy of MIC, SWB roll and copy of son's presumed dead letter to his wife, later served as 372 in Welsh Guards. (R) £20

He was killed in action as a Navigator with 12 Sqn flying Lancasters on 28th May 1944 and with no known grave is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.
