1980 The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire Member's (MBE) (Civil) breast badge with ladies bow to Miss Gertrude Farmery extremely fine in box of issue. The MBE was announced in the London Gazette dated 30th December 1980 as Personal Secretary, HM Treasury. With framed bestowal document, framed letter of congratulations from HM Treasury, good range of supporting letters and documents including copy of citation: "Miss Farmery joined the Inland Revenue in 1932 as a temporary Shorthand Typist and was established in 1934. She transferred to the Department of Economic Affairs in 1964, in the grade of Personal Secretary, and on its disbandment in 1969 transferred to the Treasury. Since she has been in the Treasury she has always worked for Under Secretaries, which has meant that she has had to run some very busy offices. For the last six years she has worked for the head of the General Expenditure Policy Group, who is concerned with the operation of the whole expenditure control system including the production of the annual White Paper on Public Expenditure and Supply Estimates. Despite her years, Miss Farmery has worked with enthusiasm and energy in support of this very demanding work. She has always carried out her duties to a very high standard, is a gentle and pleasant person, and is held in great respect and affection by her colleagues and all those with whom she comes into contact. The award of an honour to Miss farmer would be widely welcomed as fitting recognition for her long years of very efficient service." Glass will not be posted. (B) £90
