An inlaid lacquer four-case inro, signed Chohei, decorated with fish and a cuttlefish amongst gilt seaweed, inlaid with mother-of-pearl, coral, lacquer and possibly tortoiseshell, each fish with naturalistic inlaid eye, 3 1/4 x 3 1/4in. (8.5 x 8.5cms).

A letter from Midshipmen T. Honda of the H.I.J.M.S. Kage, to a Miss Lale of Istanbul, 10/12/1938, he talks of his trip to Istanbul on the H.I.J.M.S. Iwate, also discussing 'for some time we learned and examined about piloting of airplanes.' Together with two photographs of Honda and original envelope.
NB:
The Kage was Japan's third aircraft carrier and took part in the raid on Pearl Harbour Dec 1941. £50-80
