Chess Collection - Once in 30 years a 'Chess' thematic collection turns up, hopefully like 'London Buses' another will arrive in our office in the next few months. This is a substantial 'chess' collection from countries world-wide housed on more than 160 hagner type loose leaves (no binders) created by the same meticulous collector as the lovely 'Penguins' collection offered. There are literally hundreds of sets /singles /items including covers + a small balance of possibly duplicates/or unrelated material. As stamps the collector stated an estimated catalogue value of £1,500 (unchecked) - but we can imagine that some material has cost premiums to acquire whilst other material may have been relatively 'easy'. Scarce sets include Cuba 1951 set 7v u.m. on exhibition written up sheet. The collection serves to underline the truly international nature of 'Chess' with mainly mint stamps/ miniature sheets/ sheetlets from a huge range of countries spanning decades, plus also significant coverage in covers / FDC.
