  Abergeldie Castle. 1955 (Aug 20) Covers cancelled by the “ABERGELDIE CASTLE / ABERDEEN” skeleton datestamp, used at the temporary post office open for 2 hours on this one day during a fete to raise money for Crathie Church, one cover registered bearing registration label no. 7 with typed inscription “Abergeldie Castle, Aberdeen”.   1838 (July 25) Entire from Edinburgh to London, endorsed “by steam” and prepaid the 8d ship letter rate, carried on the S.S “Royal Victoria” from Leith with red “PAID at EDIN” and oval “PAID SHIP LETTER / LONDON” datestamps. Not known in London with various endorsements, redirected to Cheltenham and then Staines with a final charge of 1/6, seven London backstamps, also endorsed “Came here unsealed T.P.P.O” with an official wax seal. Scarce, ship letters between British ports only became legal on 1835. Photo on Page 86. £120-150
