Lord Howe Island. 1930 (Sep. 4) Cover addressed within Lord Howe Island franked River Murray Tercentenary 1½d with manuscript surcharge "2d Paid PM LHI" tied by a Lord Howe Island c.d.s. When the Lord Howe Island Post Office ran out of 2d stamps the Postmaster was authorised to surcharge 1½d stamps in manuscript; 260 stamps were surcharged and used between August 23rd and October 17th 1930.
