Rare, fine quality, early 18th century marine stick barometer, with concealed mercury tube and silvered rise and fall scales, signed Berge London late Ramsden and numbered 282, in a brass mounted "fiddle back" mahogany case, with boxwood cystern cover and inset ivory thermometer. Separate original brass gimbal. Circa 1800-1803. 116cm overall length. The scale on this barometer is engraved with number 282 and is very similar to another, by the same maker, held in The National Maritime Museum, engraved with the number 280.
