Prince Adolphus, Duke of Cambridge KG, GCB, GCMG, GCH, PC (1774-1850), fine Early 19th century German silver gilt chalice of Campana form with ornate cast overlay floral decoration of roses, thistles and shamrocks, engraved panel with the Royal Arms of the Prince displaying his Orders of The Garter, Bath and Hanover, raised on a circular pedestal with overlaid oak leaf and acorn surround. Engraved around footrim 'Augusta Duchess of Cambridge to her beloved husband Adolphus Frederick Duke of Cambridge a Christmas gift 1828'. Marked on the rim and foot 'Bahlsen, lion passant and 15LT, circa 1820, probably made in the workshop of Carl Ludwig Farrell for Anton George Eberhard Bahlsen for the Hanover Royal Court, approximately 40 ozs. 19.5cm overall height. His Royal Highness Prince Adolphus Duke of Cambridge was the seventh son of H.M.King George III. He was a prominent soldier attaining the rank of Field Marshall in both the Hanoverian and British armies and was the Viceroy of Hanover from 1816 to 1837 at which point he returned to England where he died in 1850. (1774-1850) Fine Set of 10 Late 18th/early 19th century German silver dinner plates of circular form with dished centres and shaped gadrooned borders engraved with The Duke of Cambridge's Royal Arms, the undersides engraved with scratch weights in marks and lothe, wriggle marks, inventory numbers and German makers marks some possibly for Nenstadt and Rubenberge, Hanover district. Queen Elizabeth II, 1953 Coronation medal, un-named as issued in box of issue and Royal Family Long and faithful Service medal with engraved '1945-1965' and named to 'Herbert Oliver Heuston' in original box of issue. Mr Herbert Heuston was a long serving gamekeeper on the Sandringham Estate for 28 years who retired in 1973. He had the honour to stand in vigil over the coffin of His Late Majesty King George VI in Sandringham Church in February 1952 and was well regarded as is bourne out by H.R.H. The Prince of Wales attending his funeral, a great honour. Sold with a fascinating collection of royal ephemera including a letter from The Queen regarding the vigil, press cuttings etc. £150 - 200
