  Caroline Islands. 1905 Coloured "Gruss aus Ponape" picture postcard sent to Saipan, bearing vertically bisected 10pf tied by "KAISERLICH DEUTSCHE POSTAGENTUR / PONAPE / KAROLINEN" negative seal handstamp, with Saipan arrival c.d.s (July 19). Bisected stamps with this cancel used April 25th until July 9th, after a hurricane on April 20th destroyed the Post Office, the usual cancel and much of the stamp stock. S.G. 15a, £550. £180-200

The letter includes "Sir Henry Pottinger has arrived from Chusan, in a few days he goes up to Canton where he will meet the Chinese authorities & finally settle everything concerning the trade". £160-200
