Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) - Leonard Nimoy production "Spock" uniform from the first movie, heavy cotton two-piece costume, consisting of a panelled, long-sleeve jacket with zipper closure in back, Starfleet insignia patch sewn onto chest, gold ranking braids on sleeve cuffs with a 'perscan' medical monitoring device attached to an integral false belt on the front. The device is mentioned in Gene Roddenberry's novelization of The Motion Picture. Matching grey trousers with zip closure and shoes attached to the trouser legs, both items display Western Costumes labels typewritten with production numbers & name.
Provenance: Sold with letter of authenticity. For the movie the uniforms were redesigned due the bright colours of the original Star Trek 1960s television series would have distracted viewers when watching the movie on a large screen. The designs proved unpopular and when Harve Bennett took over as producer, he ordered the uniforms redesigned because he did not want 'an all-grey crew on an all-grey ship'. £12000-15000
