Charles John Huffam Dickens (1812-1870): a letter to John Dalgety Henderson, dated 6th March 1885, on weekly journal correspondence paper, inscribed "Dear Mr Henderson, I am sure that it will not be possible for me to take the chair at your concert, but not being very well and having a great deal of work to attend to, I am only able to... and in the evening very lonely, faithfully yours, Charles Dickens"; together with a letter from Albert Chevalier, (1861-1923 music hall comedian); and others.
Note: John Daglety Henderson (B. December 23rd 1856) trained as a vocalist at the Guildhall School of Music as a tenor and held dinner parties for musicians, artists and like minded people.
