He died of wounds serving with 20th (Tyneside Scottish) Bn on 3oth August 1917 and is buried in Hargicourt British Cemetery. With copied CWGC, Soldiers Died and MIC, only issued a pair, from Filey. With copied roll, Violet Aimee Gilroy of St Andrews served with Y.M.C.A. in Dieppe from Dec 1915-May 1916, not entitled to Victory Medal. Sold with golf medal and newspaper cutting, she died aged 86 in May 1969, she was a first class all round sportswoman, talented singer, pianist and actress, served in Woman's service in both World Wars, won the R & A Captain's Prize at the Ladies Putting Club on 4 occasions, reached the semi-finals of the All-England badminton tourney of 1909 etc. <\n>2. WWI BWM, WW2 Defence Medal to T-Nurse E.M.I. Banister (Defence un-named) extremely fine. Elsie May Imlach Banister (nee Lamb) served with Military Nusring Service in India from 20/11/17 to 1/3/19 not entitled to Victory Medal. Sold with BRCS medals named to E & EMI Banister for Proficiency in First Aid and Proficiency in Chemical Warfare with additional 1940 Anti-Gas Training clasp, 1946 BRCS Distinguished War Service named certificate, 5 other Red Cross badges, boxed Primrose League Medal, various badges etc and copy of family tree. Appears to be unique naming to Ralph Ponsonby Watts who was commissioned in 1st Bn Hampshire Regt 23/1/14, promoted Lieut 10/11/14, Capt 23/7/16, appointed Assistant Instructor MGC Training Centre 27/1/16, later attached to 52nd Sikhs, only issued BWM for WWI. Later listed as Lieut Colonel, was Consul at Muscat 1935-39, Vice Consul at Zahidan 5/5/41, died 1991. (See Lot 19 for family medal) (R) £30

  WWI Victory Medal and Memorial Plaque to 12797 Pte R. Siviter R. Lanc R. (Reuben Siviter on plaque), Victory is about mint, plaque has been polished so very fine. Reuben Siviter died of wounds serving with 7th Bn in Brook War Hospital, Woolwich on 27th July 1916 and is buried in Barrow-In-Furness (Thorncliffe) Cemetery. He would almost certainly have been wounded in the heavy fighting around La Boiselle in the first week of July. With copied CWGC, MIC, effects and Soldiers Died, landed France 27/12/14. (R) £80

Late issue box and Admiralty transmission slip each named I P Common PO WREN 8773 for WW2 Defence Medal and BWM with 4 wartime postcards with censor marks to Miss I Common WRNS, 13 mainly Algeria wartime banknotes, envelope of transmission addressed to Mrs I P Briggs (now married). With 13 pre WWI era postcards of 1/4th Bn KOSB, KOSB cap badge, 2 ID discs for 4302 & 200235 J. Common 4/KOSB.
