FINE SENNEH RUG, Persian Kurdistan, woven on a 'Rainbow' warp, the ivory lozenge field of Herati design centred by an ivory, madder and deep indigo hexagonal medallion framed by indigo spandrels and madder borders of samovar motifs flanked by carnation guard stripes, 198cm x 130cm Footnote: These rugs with their distinctive polychrome warps were made around 1900 in limited numbers in the town of Sennah (now Sanandaj). Usually seven colours were used for the warp. They have a high knot count using the symmetrical knot and a closely clipped pile. Condition: Very minor losses to the fringes and guard stripes. The purple selvedges are complete. The close cropped pile is in fair condition if very slightly low in areas. £500-800
