An album of station staff, vehicles, landscape views of train tracks, comprising fifty pages of tipped in gelatin silver prints, each with a hand-written annotation below, half bound in leather, the photographs 21x27cm, the album 26 x 32cm, sold together with four calligraphic scrolls inscribed as a gift from Xun Wulao to Mr Li Jiwei. An album of over four hundred gelatin silver prints depicting portraits, military scenes, architectural views, views of historical sites including the Bund and the Ming tombs, temples, villages, city views and studies of locals, 29 x 38cm.
Provenance: Collection of Corporal Richard Stanley Knott (1888-1916), thence by descent to the present owner. The piece is sold with a hand-written diary which starts from the point when Knott left China to enlist in the Second World War and a note from the Record Office notes that he was honoured posthumously with the British War Medal.

Of quadrefoil form, inscribed to the centre of one side with the character zhaijie, with Manchu script to the reverse, surrounded by a band of lotus blossoms and scrolling leaves, enclosed within raised gilded borders, pierced longitudinally, 5.5cm H.

The shallow rounded sides rising from a tapered foot to an everted mouth-rim, the interior of the dish with a medallion enclosing a large overhanging pine tree, bamboo shoots and a gnarled tree bearing prunus blossoms and buds, the base inscribed with a six-character seal mark, 18.5cm diameter.
