The Seaforth Highlanders (Ross–shire Buffs, The Duke of Albany's) Other Ranks Full Dress Feather Bonnet, Pre 1961 Issue, comprising: Original Other Ranks Feather Bonnet with Rich Deep Pile Body and Four 'Tails' to the Right Side. The Rear has 3 Black Ribbon Tails. The Left Side is fitted with it's Original White Feather Plume and Black Silk Patch Mounted with Regimental Metal 'Stags Head' Badge with Scroll Bearing the Regimental motto 'Cuidich 'n Righ' [Aid the King]. The Rear of the Badge has the Correct Pattern Lugs and Split Pin Fastening. It has a Broad Headband of Red, White Dark Green Chequered Wool. The Bonnet is Complete with Leather Sweatband, Liner with Draw String and Chin Strap. Makers Label to - 'Thos Gordon & Sons Ltd, Glasgow, Highland Dress Manufacturers Made In Scotland'. British Pattern 1853 Socket Bayonet, comprising: Socket Bayonet with Locking Screw [Overall Length: 20.4" / Blade Length: 16.9"] Originally Issued for use with the Pattern 1853 Muzzle Loading Rifle it has a Blade that Slightly Curves away from the Muzzle of the Rifle. This Design Feature was Integrated so the Soldier could Load the Muzzle-Loading Pattern 1853 Rifle without Spiking Himself on the Point of the Bayonet. These Bayonets were later adapted for use with the Martini-Henry Infantry Rifle. Some moderate staining otherwise generally Very Good overall - no scabbard. £40-£70
