A large Indian silver? pedestal bowl repoussé decorated overall with bands of trailing leafage with frilled rim, shield shaped armorial crest to body, waisted column and spreading circular foot, 29cm diameter, 24cm high, stamped SNH, 90 The silver bowl bears the arms of the Punjab Indian Princely state of Kapurthala. The arms were a grant by the Viceroy before the 1911 Durbar, when the long-reigning Raja, Sir Jagatjit Singh, GCIE, GCSI, GBE (1877-1948) was raised in status from an 11-gun Raja to a 13-gun Maharaja. He was the Indian representative at the League of Nations in the later 1920s and had a very distinguished diplomatic career. £500 - 800
