Around half of the remaining Indian soldiers scattered in confusion, and could not be brought to act against their fellow Sepoys. The mutiny took over a week to suppress, and in the end 47 of the Mutineers were executed, and a further 184 were sentenced to terms of imprisonment or transportation. The loyal elements of the Regiment, 7 British and Indian Officers and 588 other ranks, including Sepoy Maujuddin, subsequently saw action during the Great War in Cameroon.
