Seagull created paper) ex the "Druitt" correspondence to London, bearing G.B. 6d. mauve Pl. 9 clearly tied by fine "466" obliterator on arrival at Liverpool, showing "paid/liverpool/br. packet" c.d.s. (24.4) with arrival datestamp (25.4) on reverse, both in red. A scarce letter, the "Seagull" was on anti-slaving duties off the west coast of Africa from August 1871 until June 1873. The contents include "There was a great cricket match at Accra when we were there, Navy versus Civilians, after playing from 3 to 6pm it was given up as hopeless, the former having made 140 runs and not all out before the latter had an innings.".
