The set is finished in RED with Silver Radiator. Some minor age wear & slight damage to hinge on rear compartment] otherwise generally Near Mint overall, contained in a generally Good to Very Good [moderate age wear & some old repairs] "Mechanical Transport & Air Force Equipment" Series [Blue] label box. The Lid label bears a Circular Stamp -"RED" & is stamped "SAMPLE" to lid end. In 1947 and 1948, Britains produced a number of Guns, Vehicles and Aircraft in a range of primary colours [see lots: 5585 / 5590 - 28th November 2013 Sale, for Guns finished in the same Red/Silver scheme], in order to make them more attractive to young children. The second [Post War] version Underslung Lorry was included in this range (Opie G, GBoB, Page 395), but this is the first time that a Red Boxed First Version has come to light.
