A Second World War MBE Group of Three Medals, awarded to 12677 Second Officer Florence Mary Ingledew WRNS, comprising MBE breast badge in leather case of issue, Defence and War Medals, with dog tag, silver identity bracelet, photograph and related ephemera**Florence Ingledew served in the Safety Equipment Branch of the Fleet Air Arm in the UK, and following the Normandy invasion she worked in the USA. She was awarded the MBE for her work. She was the sister of James Ingledew who was awarded the BEM for bravery - see the following lot £100 - 150

A Second World War British Empire Medal and Defence Medal, awarded to farmer James Ingledew of Street House Farm, Leeming Bar, Northallerton who, on the morning of 8th November 1940, witnessed a Spitfire Mark I crash and burst into flames 300 yards from his farm. He rushed to the scene, and despite the danger of exploding ammunition, pulled the pilot from the burning plane. The pilot, Sergeant N R Miller 54 Squadron, died as a result of the crash. Sold together with portrait photographs of the recipient and the pilot, and related copy ephemera. See following lot for related items £250 - 300

A Display of Parts from a Crashed Spitfire Mark I, Serial No.X4423, including instrument faces, ammunition box lid, manufacturer's data plates from various instruments, joy stick with machine gun firing button, wing securing bolts, pilot's parachute D ring, radio antenna, Mark I gun sight, remains of compass etc, all fixed to a board.**These parts are from the Spitfire which crashed near the farm of James Ingledew, near Hackforth, North Yorkshire on 8th November 1940, killing the pilot.
