Joseph Ady, Fraudster. 1847 Entire letter from the fraudster Joseph Ady offering "something to your advantage (value £1000 & upwards long overlooked) on receipt of 20/- by Post Office Order" illustrated with a uniformed gentleman, remarkable similar in appearance to Prince Albert. Also 1848 unpaid entire letter from Richmond to Bedale charged 2d, but endorsed "Refused" and handstamped by red crowned "This letter has been REFUSED / 29 JA 1848", this handstamp introduced as a result of the large quantities of unpaid letters sent by Ady which were refused.
