Good collection of 19th century Indian paintings on mica, comprising 59 individual paintings framed in groups, in twelve ebonised glazed frames, subjects include a fakir on a bed of nails, snake charmers, noblemen and women and various other subjects, predominantly portraits of various castes and people pursuing daily tasks, the majority approximately 12 x 6cm.
N.B.: Accompanying note states that's the pictures were acquired by the writer's grandfather from a Dr Cox of Surbiton and speculates that they date to around 1830.
