Matchbox Models of Yesteryear Y20 Mercedes 540K Pre-production colour trial - metallic violet-blue body with grey side panels, metallic violet-blue chassis, light brown seats, chrome 24-spoke wheels - Excellent Plus in Excellent straw window box. Interestedly this example chassis has a thin factory paint finish to the chassis with only a thin blue top coat over the purple base coat resulting in quite a purple finish in areas. £40-£60

The canopies are all blank and were produced in the early 1980's but never actually used. Models produced with these canopies in the early 1980's include "Aspects & Images"; "Surrey Model Fair and Swapmeet"; "Tangley Model Workshop Limited".
