by Laurent Ridel, the case surmounted by a cherub playing cymbals above the drum movement on a Roman alter, flanked by young fauns playing horns to either side, with further Bacchanalian symbols at their feet, the marble plinth with rounded ends applied with classical mounts including Hermes masks and on engine turned tapering feet, the enamel dial with floral swags, date indicator and signed 'Ridel á Paris', the movement with count wheel striking the hours and half hours on a bell and with back plate also signed by the maker, 66cm wide x 56cm high
