Ron Sims was born in Burnham-on-Crouch and initially trained at Colchester Art School, before postgraduate studies at Manchester Art School and the Royal Academy Schools, he counted John Nash, Eduardo Paolozzi, Edward Bawden, William Scott, Humprey Spender and Peter Blake amongst his various teachers during this period, the direction of Ron's work was indelibly influenced by Paolozzi, Scott and Blake, the pop art and hard edge experimentation of the 60s coloured Ron's artistic development and a highly distinctive style emerged with pared down modernist compositions, executed in rich complimentary tonal planes. During a long and successful career Ron Sims exhibited extensively at the Royal Accademy, Mall Galleries, Burlington Fine Art, The Minories, Chappel Galleries, Gainsborough House and many others. Ron taught printmaking at Colchester Art School and when created President of the Colchester Art Society he joined a select elite group of artists including John Nash, Cedric Morris and Roderic Barrett, confirmation of the high regard which fellow artists held of his works and career.
The present works are to be offered directly from the artist's estate.
