  The Swords, Cup and Record Book of the previous World Record holder for club and sword swinging, Gunner George Vyner 101 Royal Garrison Artillery: the book contains the certification that Gunner Vyner swung Indian clubs weighing 3lbs for a period of 83 hours and 45 minutes on the 7th May 1912, including a break down of the revolutions per 15 minute intervals signed off by first class magistrate and another for swinging Indian clubs continuously for 76 hours, 17th January 1917, the record is for 34 hours of sword swinging, other photographs, posters and ephemera; the Albany Ward Cup presented to Gunner George Vyner on March 7th 1914 for 60 hours of club swinging; his swinging swords of 1864 pattern; and a kukri. £350 - 500 plus 24% BP*

  WWI Prisoner of War and WWII National Service interest, to include: a pair of First World War General Service medals awarded to 6561 Private R. S. Hunter, Durham Light Infantry, with ribbons and tags, signing up papers including letters of reference, Christmas card to Dick's wife Kate 1917, a letter to Kate informing her that he was posted "Missing" on 27th May 1918, with repatriation from Buckingham Palace, discharge from Ripon and train ticket to Sunderland, and some discharge papers, together with a photograph of Dick at a later age and an application for enrollment into the Sunderland & County Durham National Defence Company, also marriage certificate from the 3rd July 1905.
NB: The Durham Light Infantry were known to have been part of the third Battle of The Aisne on 27th May 1918. A war diary of Captain Henry Wilkinson also of The Durham Light Infantry is online at the Durham Records Office, he also was captured on the first day of the battle. £80 - 120 plus 24% BP*

HISTORY:
Cuthbert Barrass resided at 74 Ashley Road, South Shields and was awarded the Military Medal for the conspicuous gallantry, he was assistant master in Dean Road School and later became president of the National Federation of Class Teachers and a Councillor of South Shields.
