Jonkheer John Loudon Collection (Lots 410 – 424)
The collection of objects has been in the ownership of Jonkheer John Loudon and his family for generations. Jonkheer is a Dutch title, not used in the UK but bestowed on the family in the 19th century when the Loudon family were landowners in Holland and amongst others, provided the Governor General of the Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia), the Foreign Secretary of the Netherlands in the beginning of the 20th century, and the founding members of the Royal Dutch Shell Petroleum Co., John Loudon settled in the UK in 1960 and many of the objects were in Pusey House an exquisite 1740 Georgian mansion and estate in Oxfordshire
