"African Queen". A large impressive Live Steam Spirit Fired Model Boat constructed in wood with brass fittings. Two deck houses with a centrally mounted wood lagged boiler and twin oscillating cylinder steam engine (untested). Brass propeller and a brass rudder operated by a wheel in the engine section. Complete with wooden display stand. Beam 7.25"/18.5cm. Length 45"/114cm. Condition is Good Plus to Excellent for display. £150-£260

Radio Controlled Model Fishing Boat. Nicely constructed and detailed model, probably from a kit. GRP hull with planked deck, deck house and masts of wood. Decaperm 12v motor driving a single brass screw. Fitted for radio control and includes boxed FS-T6 Fly Sky digital proportional radio control unit with instructions. No battery. Untested. Length of hull 34"/86cm. Condition of boat is Good Plus to Excellent with wooden display stand and Near Mint radio control unit with original box and internal packing. £60-£100

"Canfly", professionally built 3/8" scale working model racing boat by Keith Townsend in 1982, serial number 001. Timber planked hull varnished to the waterline and red below. Fitted with a three blade brass propeller. Timber deck in black. Padded seat to the rear of cockpit. Hinged aluminium engine cover. Powered by a single cylinder four stroke water cooled engine (not tested). This is an excellent example of the work of one who is regarded by many as amongst the finest model boat makers of the 20th century. Care of construction and attention to detail are evident throughout. Length 43"/109cm. Copies of letters of provenance included: originals available from vendor on request. Some minor damage to top edge of cockpit but condition is generally Good Plus to Excellent. Includes a heavy slate and brass stand with plaque.
Background: The original "Canfly" is a racing boat built in 1922 by Harry Brecker of Windermere for Mr E.H. Pattinson. It was powered by a Rolls Royce Hawk Engine from a World War I Airship. Canfly raced regularly on Windermere and was the official's boat for Sir Henry Segrave's tragic world water speed record attempt on Friday 13th June 1930, rescuing the only survivor. She is now in the care of the Windermere Steamboat Museum. £800-£1200
