Exceptionally fine quality set of four George IV Irish silver double entree dishes of rectangular form, with cast floral decoration, engraved armorials and detachable scroll and foliate loop handles (Dublin 1825), sponsor mark for Jas. Le Bass. Each dish, cover and handle separately numbered 1 to 4 and engraved on the base - 'Jas. Moore Fecit'. No. 1 also engraved 'Weight of four double dishes and handles 345ozs - 18dwts'. No. 1 bears full armorial shield and separate crest with motto 'Fortitude et Prudentia' on the cover and double bull / chapeau crests on base. No. 2 and No. 4 bear double bull / chapeau crests on both covers and bases. No. 3 bears double bull / chapeau crests on cover and single lion's head crest on base. All at approximately 345ozs, 32.5cm across.
Provenance: From the collection of the late Sir George and Lady Clark of Ballygowan, Northern Ireland, by descent from Sir George's uncle, Captain Henry Douglas Clark (1889-1952), a gentleman who amassed his collection whilst living at Hoveton Hall, Norfolk and in South Africa
