Archibald Russel. Nicely constructed fully rigged waterline model of a 4 masted barque in a glass case with a wooden base. The Archibald Russel was one of the last great tall ships to be built in Britain. Built in 1905 of steel construction by Scotts of Greenock, she was scrapped in 1949 and broken up by King & Co of Gateshead. Length of glass case 25"/63.5cm. Excellent for display. Also included in this lot is a book "The Four Masted Barque" by Edward Bowness (Percival Marshall 1955) which includes photographs and plans of the "Archibald Russel" together with background information and model making instructions. "S.S. John Brown". Plastic model of a Liberty Ship in glass case with wooden base. The prototype took part in the Anzio Landings and was part of the invasion force of Southern France in August 1944. Billing Boats (Denmark) "Roar Ege" Viking Ship. Superbly constructed wooden model in a glass case with a wooden stand. The original dates from about 1000 AD and was found at Roskilde, Denmark.
