M&E (UK) Special Tether Car. Very rare example by M&E Models of Exmouth, produced between 1947 and 1949. The rear mounted 6cc Stentor petrol engine drives the front axle via a centrifugal clutch. Chassis No.1289. Red painted wooden body on steel chassis, Aluminium bonnet panel secured by leather strap. Mesh radiator front, metal fuel cap to rear. Alloy wheels with rubber tyres. Small brass plate attached to side reads "Ian Baird, Eilean Donan, Mont de la Rocque, St Aubin, Jersey". Length 18"/46cm. Would benefit from a light clean. Split to wood in front of cockpit and to one seam of rear boat tail. Part of rear steering linkage detached but present. Untested but generally Good for display. Only around 25 surviving examples of this model have been identified. £1400-£1800
